The inside of the Oktoberfest beer tents is the main attraction of the world-famous beer festival. Unique atmosphere with lavish decoration and thousands of people partying together makes the experience inside the Oktoberfest tents so special.
Inside every Oktoberfest tent is a live band that plays the typical Oktoberfest music hits which is a variety of well-known German, English, Italian and Spanish pop and rock songs.
The big Oktoberfest beer tents are usually opened from 10am to 11.30pm. By 10.30pm the music finishes and drinks are stopped being served.
On the first Oktoberfest day as well as on the public holiday (Oct. 3rd) the festival grounds and the tents open at 9am.
The first Oktoberfest day is special as people are already lining up from early in the morning. The beer is served after the opening ceremony from 12pm, soft drinks from 11am.
With longer opening hours and the focus on wine rather than beer the two Oktoberfest tents "Käfer Wiesn-Schänke" and "Kuffler's Weinzelt" are the exception.
There are also lots of small and medium-size tents that serve drinks and play music until 11pm, then close by 11.30pm.

1. Hofbräu

The biggest Oktoberfest tent is known for its lively atmosphere, international crowd and is a very popular spot for party-goers. In the evening the Hofbräu beer can be enjoyed while dancing to English party and pop songs as well as the familiar Oktoberfest music hits. This tent is the only one with a standing table area right in front of the stage which tends to get especially crazy.
Since the Hofbräu brewery is owned by the Bavarian state so is this Oktoberfest tent, which is also the only big Oktoberfest tent where the Hofbräu beer is served. It is possible to order wine as well though. The decor is filled with fresh green hops from the close-by region Holledau and it makes the tent look so good.

2. Marstall Festzelt

The Marstall tent can be recognized by its horse theme that takes reference to horse races that were one of the main attraction back in the early history of Oktoberfest. This Oktoberfest tent features exclusive Bavarian decor and serves Spaten beer as well as Franziskaner Weißbier (wheat beer). During the day the Marstall tent is very family friendly but in the evenings there is a good party mood. The bar at the big balcony is very popular amongst the evening visitors.
3. Armbrustschützenzelt

The Armbrustschützenzelt translates to "crossbow tent" and this tent still keeps the shooting traditions, but not inside the massive main tent of course. There is a side tent specially for the crossbow shootings where the German crossbow championships are taking place.
Inside the main tent there is Paulaner beer served which is usually enjoyed by a mixed crowd of young and old, local and international.
The live bands are playing a wide range from traditional brass music to current Oktoberfest music hits.
4. Pschorr Bräurosl
Brewery: Hacker-Pschorr

This is a more modern Oktoberfest tent by the looks, and this also applies to the music. Inside the Pschorr Bräurosl tent there is a rather small share of traditional brass music and most of the times the live bands play Oktoberfest party music.
The name "Bräurosl" can be translated to "Brewery Rosl" which back in the days was a reference to the name of brewery's daughter named "Rosl". She became so famous amongst the guests for her beauty that the tent was named after her and the name is kept until today.
There is Hacker-Pschorr beer served and you can find a good variety of traditional Bavarian food with changing lunch offers. On the fist Sunday of the Oktoberfest the gay and lesbian community meets in this tent for a big party which makes the tent especially packed on this day.
5. Schottenhammel

The Schottenhammel Oktoberfest tent is known for hosting the popular festival's opening ceremony on the first day of Oktoberfest. Each year the major of Munich has the honor of tapping the very first beer at Oktoberfest. At noon the major traditionally opens a wooden keg and after successfully doing so he says the Bavarian phrase "O'zapft is!" which means "It's tapped!". Only then the beer is allowed to be served around the whole Oktoberfest .
This tent tends to be more popular for the younger Oktoberfest visitors.
6. Paulaner Festzelt

This Oktoberfest tent is recognizable from afar by a giant spinning Paulaner beer glass at the tower of the tent. Paulaner is a tent with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and it is popular for a mixed crowd from young to old. Special guest is the team of the local Bayern München football club. The beer garden terrace outside is especially popular on a sunny Oktoberfest day.
7. Hacker-Festzelt

With its rustic decor and friendly vibe, Hacker Festzelt Oktoberfest tent is a favorite among locals. It serves Hacker-Pschorr beer and features a traditional oompah band during the day and party music in the evening played by a band at a rotating stage in the middle of the tent. This tent also features the Bavarian Heaven ("Himmel der Bayern") tent ceiling, which is very popular amongst Oktoberfest visitors.
8. Löwenbräu Festzelt

Known for its giant lion statue out front that actually roars, the Löwenbräu Oktoberfest tent is a fun and lively tent that serves the Löwenbräu beer. The crowd is mixed with lots of international visitors as well as locals.
9. Augustiner Festhalle

The Augustiner Oktoberfest tent is known for its laid-back, relaxed atmosphere and excellent Augustiner beer. On weekdays it's a popular spot for families and older visitors. On the weekends the tent gets packed mostly with locals from Munich.
In this traditional beer tent the beer is served from 200 liter big wooden beer kegs. This Oktoberfest tent features a tower that looks amazing from outside. The tower is used for extra storage for the huge wooden beer kegs and there is an elevator so that they can be easily be brought down to the tent.
10. Ochsenbraterei

The "Ochsenbraterei" translates to "oxen roasting" and this Oktoberfest tent stays true to its name which can be seen by the giant ox figure at the front of the tent. Inside the tent there are boards stating the name and weight of the oxen that are served. It comes to no surprise that this tent is known for its roasted ox dishes and rustic decor, but there is also a selection of vegetarian and vegan food. Like every Oktoberfest tent it gets packed with party people in the evening. The beer is supplied by the Spaten brewery and this tent tends to be more popular for locals rather than international visitors
11. Fischer-Vroni

The Oktoberfest tent name "Fischer-Vroni" is a hint towards the delicious fish dishes that can be consumed here. This Oktoberfest tent is also known for its cozy, intimate atmosphere. It serves Augustiner beer from wooden kegs and in there is traditional Bavarian music plays by a live band. Guests usually value the quality of the food and the more relaxed atmosphere. That changes on the second Monday of the Oktoberfest as the gay and lesbian community is found in this tent.This is known to be one of the best party days during Oktoberfest.
12. Schützen-Festzelt

The Oktoberfest tent Schützen-Festzelt (shooter tent) is known for its shooting contests and lively atmosphere. It is popular for young and older Oktoberfest visitors alike and also has a some famous and even aristocratical regular guests. Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the famous guests that often like to enjoy the Schützen-Festzelt Oktoberfest tent.
13. Festzelt Tradition

This nostalgic and especially traditional beer tent is the biggest one in the area of the "Oide Wiesn" which translates to "Old Oktoberfest". For this special part of the Oktoberfest visitors have to pay a small entrance fee. With its nostalgic theme, the "Old Oktoberfest" looks a bit like traveling back in time.
The music is traditionally with brass music and there is no dancing at the tables but space to dance at the dance floor in front of the stage. There are also regular shows of professionally performed traditional Bavarian dances.

14. Boandlkramerei
Brewery: Augustiner

This Oktoberfest tent replaces the "Herzkasperlzelt" Oktoberfest tent which is located at the area of the "Oide Wiesn". This new Oktoberfest tent will take part in the traditional theme of the "Old Oktoberfest" but its exact orientation is yet to be determined. But surely there will be cold beer served in traditional 1 liter stone mugs.
15. Volkssängerzelt Schützenlisl

This tent is one of three tents at the "Oide Wiesn" - the nostalgic part of the Oktoberfest. As the other tents at the "Old Oktoberfest" the beer is served in traditional looking stone mugs. Exactly the same tent has been already at Oktoberfest in 1881 and is now again part of the Oktoberfest since 2022.
16. Kufflers Weinzelt

Brewery: Paulaner Weißbier (=wheat beer) is served until 9pm

"Weinzelt" is German for wine tent, so this Oktoberfest tent is unique in that it serves mostly wine instead of beer. A selection of wine, sparkling wine and champagne can be consumed here with the only exception of Weißbier (wheat beer) from Paulaner but only until 9pm. The tent is known for its elegant decor, upscale atmosphere and high-end cuisine. With opening hours until 1am it is the longest opened tent of the Oktoberfest.
17. Käfer Wiesn-Schänke

Käfer is a high-end tent that is popular among celebrities and politicians. It serves Paulaner beer and the guests also tend to order a lot of champagne. With opening hours until 12.30am this tent is allowed to be opened longer than most other Oktoberfest tents.
